Richard Anderson is a general and interventional cardiologist, bringing many years of experience to his private cardiology consultant practice at Vale Healthcare, South Wales' leading private clinics and private hospital in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, UK.

Richard qualified from Charing Cross and Westminster hospitals in 1994 after attaining degrees in medicine and pharmacology. He then returned to Wales after working in London and Surrey before being appointed Registrar trainee in the Welsh deanery. He attained his doctorate specialising in free radicals and vascular function at the Wales Heart Research Institute, at Cardiff University's School of Medicine, Wales, UK..

In 2005, he became a consultant cardiologist at Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust seeing and treating patients both at the University Hospital of Wales and Llandough Hospital in South Wales. He is specialised in coronary angiography and coronary angioplasty performing these procedures from the wrist allowing same day discharge for the majority of patients. These techniques were acquired during training in Newcastle, Toulouse, Southampton and Cardiff. He is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Cardiff University participating in research and authoring numerous papers innovating and modifying best practice.

His specialist interests include hypertension, atrial fibrillation, angina, ultrasound visualization within the coronary arteries and chest pain after bypass surgery.

Richard performs clinic based cardiac assessment including exercise testing and cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography) and offers a full range of invasive cardiac tests and treatments including coronary angiography, intravascular ultrasound, intra-coronary pressure measurements, coronary angioplasty and stenting.

In addition, Richard offers atrial fibrillation and hypertension clinics as previous successfully piloted in Llandough hospital over the last 3 years.

Gethin Ellis is a Consultant Cardiologist at Vale Healthcare and brings a  breadth of experience and expertise to his private cardiology consultant practice and general medicine practice in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan's leading private clinics and private hospital - Vale Healthcare.

Gethin is a dually accredited Consultant in Cardiology and General Medicine at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, South Wales in the newly formed Cwm Taf NHS Trust. He read medicine at the University of Sheffield, achieving an intercalated degree in the medical microbiology department during the course of his studies and graduating in medicine in 1990. He returned to Wales to complete general postgraduate training and later persuing his interest in heart surgery he became a specialist registrar in cardiovascular medicine on the all Wales training scheme. During the course of his specialty training he was awarded a British Heart Foundation fellowship researching chronic heart failure at the Wales Heart Research Institute and gained an MD with distinction in 2000. Having attained specialist accreditation in 2001 he was appointed as a Consultant at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in the same year and became a Fellow in the Royal College of Physicians in 2005.

At the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Gethin has led the development of an on site angiography facility, a pacemaker implantation service and a full range of non-invasive cardiac investigations. He is fully accredited in echocardiography and maintains his membership of the British Society of Echocardiography. He has continued his research interests, and written, as well as presented numerous papers largely in the field of heart failure and cardiovascular risk modification. He has also chaired national and regional working groups leading to published clinical guidance and contributed extensively to the National Service Framework for cardiac disease.

Maintaining his sub-specialty interest in heart failure, Gethin has established a heart failure service based on the principle of home-based intervention facilitated by specialist nurses and is the heart failure lead for the South East Wales Cardiac Network. He has also developed rapid access chest pain and atrial fibrillation clinics as well as a special clinic to review those patients that have recently undergone coronary artery surgery or coronary angioplasty.

Gethin is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and is an Honorary Clinical Tutor in the University of Wales School of Medicine. He is also the Associate Clinical Director for Medicine at his hospital Trust, has previously held the post of President of the Welsh Cardiac Physiologists’ Society and has recently taken on the role of Honorary Secretary to the Welsh Cardiovascular Society.

Gethin performs coronary angiography at a newly opened facility at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital and at Vale Healthcare's Cardiff Bay Clinic, providing a full range of non-invasive cardiac investigations supported by a team of highly trained nurses.

Tim Kinnaird is a private Consultant Cardiologist who practices primarily from Vale Healthcare's Cardiff Bay Clinic in south Wales. Vale Healthcare operates South Wales' premier private hospital and private clinics in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.

Tim is an interventional cardiologist and specialises in coronary angiography and coronary angioplasty, performing over 500 procedures each year. The majority of these procedures are performed from the wrist thus facilitating patients discharge home the same day.  These techniques were acquired during training in Cardiff, Vancouver and London, followed by 3-years in Washington DC at one of the major heart centres in North America. His special interests include angina, ultrasound of the coronary arteries, chest pain after bypass, and valvular heart disease.

As well as his private heart consultant role, Tim is a consultant cardiologist at Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust seeing and treating patients both at the University Hospital of Wales and at Llandough Hospital. He is also an Honorary Lecturer at Cardiff University, actively participating in undergraduate teaching.

In addition he maintains a strong research interest having authored over 70 papers, abstracts and book chapters. He continues to undertake research in collaboration on a local, national and international basis. He is a member of several national professional bodies. He also lectures and trains other clinicians in the UK and on an international basis, and is an external PhD examiner for several overseas universities.

Dr Zaheer Yousef

Dr Zaheer Yousef is a Consultant Cardiologist who runs private Cardiology consultant clinics from Vale Healthcare - south Wales' leading private hospital and private clinics in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. Dr Yousef's current NHS and University posts are as a Consultant Cardiologist at the University Hospital of Wales and Llandough Hospital in South Wales and honorary senior lecturer at Cardiff University. He is lead clinician for heart failure, devices for heart failure, and clinical governance at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.
 
Following on from his first first medical qualification in 1992 at Guys Hospital, London Dr Yousef has developed special clinical interests in heart failure, cardiomyopathies, biventricular pacemaker implantation (resynchronisation pacemakers for heart failure), implantation of internal defibrillators, and general clinical cardiology.
 
As well at these clinical interests, Dr Yousef's research interests are cardiac resynchronisation therapy (biventricular and pacing), heart failure, management of patients after myocardial infarction.
 
Current memberships of professional, national and regional bodies: Royal College of Physicians, British Cardiovascular Society, Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, British Society of Heart Failure, British Society of Echocardiography. Secretaryof the Welsh Heart Failure Forum.
 
Zaheer Yousef is Accredited in Adult Cardiology and General Medicine. He was appointed as a NHS Consultant in 2005 and gained a British Heart Foundation Programme Grant 1997-2000. He was awarded Young Investigator of the Year (London) in 1999. Dr Yousef undertakes cardiac catheterisation and advanced pacemaker implantation at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff and regularly delivers lectures and physician training at National and International meetings.

A tight head prop and first team squash player in his youth for Guys Hospital, Dr Yousef is now more often involved in watching sports than playing them, devoting more time these days to house restoration.
