Dr Lindsay George

Consultant Diabetic and Endocrinologist

Dr Lindsay George is a Consultant specialising in Diabetes and Metabolism, with a particular interest in the management and complications of adult diabetes.

Dr George attended Cardiff Medical School from 1986 until graduation in 1991. He then worked as a junior doctor in the University Teaching Hospital of Wales, becoming a member of the Royal College of Physicians in 1994 and a Fellow in 2005. From 1995 Lindsay undertook a period of research into diabetic eye disease culminating in an MD thesis in 1997.

Lindsay took his first consultant post in 2001 and subsequently moved to the University Hospital Llandough in 2004, where he has been the clinical lead for diabetes for the Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust (now University Health Board) until the present date. Dr George now brings his extensive education and experience to his private clinics and private practice treating diabetes and metabolism at Vale Healthcare, South Wales' leading private clinic and private hospital in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.

He specialises in Type 2 (adult onset) diabetes and has a particular interest in the complications of this condition. In addition he is keen to offer risk factor management to reduce the burden of heart disease, stroke and peripheral vascular disease all of which are more common in patients who suffer from diabetes.

In addition Lindsay is happy to offer management advice for patients with confirmed or suspected thyroid disease, disorders of calcium metabolism, adrenal dysfunction, and pituitary dysfunction. He works as part of a multidisciplinary team who are able to offer high quality medical and nursing care.
