Kausik has particular expertise in the imaging of all Orthopaedic, Spine and Rheumatology patients. He also specialises in various diagnostic and therapeutic intervention procedures related to Orthopaedics, Spine and Rheumatology.
Kausik studied Medicine in Calcutta Medical College, Calcutta University, the oldest Medical College in Asia, spent his clinical years in the same hospital, and qualified in 1992. In his quest for higher studies he moved to the UK in 1996. He obtained his FRCS Ed in 1998. During the surgical rotation he developed interest in Radiology and joined the Wessex Radiology Training programme in 2000. After completing his Radiology training and obtaining the Fellowship from the Royal College of Radiology, he joined the Nuffield Orthopaedic Hospital, Oxford, for the fellowship in Musculoskeletal Radiology.
He had been working as a Consultant in Musculoskeletal Radiology in the University Hospital of Wales since 2007.
Kausik has extensive experience in interpretation of all forms of imaging related to musculoskeletal radiology. He is skilled in various interventional procedures that include image guided joint injections, cervical and lumbosacral nerve root blocks, discography and vertebroplasty.
Kausik works with a team of excellent Orthopaedic, Spinal and Rheumatology Consultants, striving to provide a high quality service in Musculoskeletal Radiology for Vale Healthcare.

Dr Philippa Young is a private Consultant Breast Radiologist at Vale Healthcare, South Wales' leading private clinics and private hospital in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. Philippa has particular expertise in all areas of breast imaging, including MRI, image-guided biopsy and excision techniques.
Philippa studied medicine at Queens’ College, Cambridge University, and spent her clinical years at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School, qualifying in 1991. During her postgraduate years in London, she specialised in internal medicine obtaining her Membership of the Royal College of Physicians. Subsequently, Philippa undertook diagnostic radiology training on the All Wales Higher Training Scheme, developing a special interest in breast imaging, obtaining Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists. She also has membership of the RCR special interest Breast Group.
A seven year Consultant Radiologist post in Somerset ensued, involving both symptomatic breast work and also breast cancer screening work within the NHS Breast Screening Programme. During this post, Philippa established a breast MRI service for Somerset, and was also heavily involved in reconfiguring the breast service to provide more timely and appropriate assessment of patients with breast problems.
Philippa’s commitment to enabling the provision of high quality breast diagnostic services has continued since her return to the Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan region, some 2 years ago. Currently, Philippa works for the Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust, at the University Hospital of Wales, as well as the Welsh breast cancer screening service, namely Breast Test Wales. Philippa has extensive experience in mammography interpretation, breast ultrasound, breast MRI and image-guided breast biopsy, and can also provide benign breast lump excision under local anaesthetic. She also teaches these skills to other doctors and medical personnel.
Dr Philippa Young works closely with Mr Goyal, Consultant Breast Surgeon and Lead Clinician for the Cardiff and Vale NHS Breast Service, contributing to an expert multidisciplinary approach to the management of all breast related problems.
