Mr Andrew Allman is a Consultant Gynaecologist and brings vast experience to his private obstetrics and gynaecology prectice at Vale Healthcare - South Wales' leading private clinics and private hospital for treatment of obstetric and gynaecological conditions. He has been a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist at Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend since 1996.
He qualified from the Welsh National School of Medicine in 1984. After junior house jobs in North Wales and senior house jobs in Rotherham, Wrexham and the Wirral, he joined the North West Thames Obstetrics & Gynaecology training scheme.
During his training in London, he worked with Professor Philip Steer and completed three years research for his MD on the measurement of fetal head to cervix force during labour. This yielded a significant insight into the effects of child birth on the pelvic floor.
After completing his research, he continued to work as a lecturer in obstetrics and gynaecology at Charing Cross & Westminster Medical School and the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, until moving back to Wales in 1996.
Mr Allman has a wide experience in managing all gynaecological conditions. He has a special interest in urogynaecology, particularly the effects of child birth on the pelvic floor, and “one-stop diagnosis” having used transvaginal ultrasound in his clinics for the last 12 years.
He is a skilled laparoscopic surgeon and many conditions are managed laparoscopically. He has 10 years experience of transvaginal tapes for stress incontinence and performs advanced mesh repairs for complex or recurrent pelvic floor prolapse.
His other interests including horse-riding, skiing and cricket.
