Alun John is a consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon at Vale Healthcare, and practices at the Cardiff Bay Clinic. Alun's NHS practice is based within Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust. Mr Alun John specialises in all aspects of hip surgery and has a particular interest in hip joint replacement. His hip consultant work involves both primary and revision hip replacement and also hip resurfacing procedures.
Throughout his time in Cardiff, Alun John has developed an interest in hip arthroscopy which is useful for removing loose bodies and dealing with defects of the hip joint surface and surrounding soft tissues of the hip. He also performs total knee replacements.
Mr John has developed a respected private practice delivering private treatment for hip surgery, hip replacement and hip resurfacing at Vale Healthcare, Wales' leading private clinic and private hospital for trauma surgery and orthopaedic surgery.
At undergraduate level, Alun trained at St Bartholomew’s Medical School, London. He undertook training in Orthopaedics on the All Wales Orthopaedic Rotation. Between 1999 and 2000 he completed post-graduate fellowships in adult reconstructive surgery at the Princess Alexandra Hospital Brisbane and at the Mater Hospital, Sydney before moving to Cardiff where he is generally recognised as an eminent hip specialist.
