Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon - Hip specialist

Mr Steve Jones is a Consultant Orthopaedic Hip Surgeon, based at Vale Healthcare's Vale Hosptial and Cardiff Bay Clinic - South Wales' premier private hospital and private clinics for hip surgery, including hip replacement. As a specialist hip surgeon Steve's practice involves the assessment and management of all aspects of hip pathology. Mr Jones provides a comprehensive service from the management of sports and soft tissue hip injuries through to joint preserving hip surgery (hip arthroscopy & hip impingement surgery), conservative hip replacement (hip resurfacing & short stem hip replacement) together with a large volume practice in primary and revision hip replacement.

Steve Jones qualified from the University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff, South Wales in 1995. His orthopaedic and trauma training was on the All Wales Higher Training Programme, and his  hip specialist training has been an accumulation of fellowships in the UK together with clinical visits throughout Europe and North America. This education continues with regular attendance both as a delegate and faculty member at national and international hip meetings. Most recently this has included delivering instructional presentations at the London Hip Meeting, European Hip Meeting and International Hip Resurfacing Meeting in the USA.

Mr Steve Jones is an active member of the British Hip Society. In addition to his surgical qualifications he holds an MSc in Orthopaedic Engineering that has provided him with the knowledge and understanding to become closely involved with hip implant development and evaluation. Steve's particular area of research interest is the management of hip instability, the use of large diameter metal bearings, outcome measurement and improvement in hip arthroplasty.

Steve is a keen educator and has a regular teaching commitment on both University and Royal College of Surgeons courses.
