Dr Khalid Hamandi
Consultant Neurologist

Dr Khalid Hamandi is a Consultant Neurologist at Vale Healthcare with clinics at the Cardiff Bay Clinic, and the Vale Hospital, Hensol. Dr Hamandi will take referrals for all neurological conditions in the private sector. Dr Hamandi' s NHS practice is based at University Hospital Wales and Llandough Hospital, and he is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Cardiff University with active research and teaching interests.
Dr Hamandi qualified in medicine from St Mary’s Hospital Medical School, London, UK in 1994, also obtaining a BSc in the central nervous system and disease. He trained in neurology in South West England mainly Frenchay Hospital, Bristol and in epilepsy at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London. He was awarded his PhD in neuroscience for advanced brain scanning research at the Institute of Neurology, University College London. He was appointed consultant neurologist at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board in 2006. Dr Hamandi has a special interest in epilepsy, leading collaborative brain imaging projects within Cardiff University. He publishes widely in medical journals and book chapters, speaks at national and international meetings and teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Professional memberships include: Association of British Neurologists, British Medical Association, International League Against Epilepsy, Royal College of Physicians, South West Neurology Association.
Dr Fady Joseph
Consultant Neurologist
MB, BCh, MD, MRCP
Dr Fady Joseph is a Consultant Neurologist at Vale Healthcare. Dr Joseph's NHS practice is based at the University Hospital of Wales, Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny, and he is a Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport.
Dr Joseph qualified from the University of Wales in 1994 and has a broad background in general medicine, with subsequent experience in child health and general adult psychiatry. He completed his neurology training in South Wales and the southwest of England, largely in Frenchay Hospital in Bristol. He was awarded the degree of MD from the University of Bristol for his work on Central Nervous System Inflammatory Disorders including Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral lupus, Cerebral Vasculitis, Neurosarcoidosis, and Neuro-Behçet’s disease.
Dr Joseph has numerous publications in this area and has presented his research work nationally and internationally. He leads the Multiple Sclerosis Service for Aneurin Bevan Local Health Board and is a regular clinical tutor at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has wide experience in all aspects of general acute and chronic neurology and has written numerous medical legal reports.
Dr Joseph will accept referrals relating to any aspect of neurology in the private sector. His professional memberships include the Royal College of Physicians of London, the Association of British Neurologists and the South West Neurology Association.
