The Diagnostic and Interventional Spine Clinic at Vale Healthcare (D.I.S.C) is led by South Wales' leading spinal surgeons including:

Vale Healthcare's Spinal Consultants specialise in spinal disorders including degenerative conditions of the spine (such as cervical or lumbar stenosis, where the spinal canal narrows and compresses the spinal cord and nerves), disc herniations (often misleadingly refered to a a slipped disc), and scoliosis or adult deformity of the spine (curvature of the spine). Our spine consultants also have specific experience in the management of spinal column tumors and spine injury including spinal cord injuries and the management of spinal trauma injuries.

The Spine Clinic operates state-of-the-art evaluation, diagnosis (including on-site MRI) and treatment for all back problems and spine pain. The Spine Clinic also offers the most advanced spinal treatments including minimally invasive spine surgery (accomplished with image guidance), as well as the latest in spinal fusion and disc replacement techniques.

The Spinal Consultants works closely together with the clinic's Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation team including specially trained spinal Physiotherapists, an Osteopath, Chiropractors and a spine Pain Management Consultant, utilising their combined knowledge to provide conservative management and rehabilitation programmes for all back related conditions.

Facilities and Services offered within the Spinal Clinic at Vale Healthcare include state of the art imaging and diagnostics which include on-site MRI (at the Card, ultrasound scans, fluoroscopy, conventional x-rays and electro-diagnostic studies. These investigations are used to help diagnose your back condition and guide the management of your spine treatment.

Most tests can be scheduled within 24 hours of the patient’s initial consultation.
