Sports Cardiovascular Screening

In response to a number of tragic, high profile cases and guidance issued by many international medical and sports bodies, there is an increasing recognition that there is a largely unaddressed need to deliver specialist cardiovascular screening for those individuals that wish to participate in competitive sports. Such screening is recognised as a means of identifying individuals at high potential risk of sudden cardiac death during sporting activities.  Some major sporting organisations have identified the importance of cardiovascular screening for their elite athletes and a few have already initiated screening programmes.

The Vale Healthcare Cardiologists supported by a full range of diagnostic tests, have established a service specifically to provide specialist cardiovascular screening and we would encourage individual athletes and/or teams to consider utilising this important service
