Using Your Medical Insurance at Vale Healthcare
Vale Healthcare provides private healthcare to patients with medical insurance / health insurance and those who self-pay.
If you have medical insurance then you can have a say and choice regarding your specialist care, the consultant you see, and the healthcare facility that you attend.
If you have medical insurance / health insurance then you will require a GP referral, and preauthorisation for treatment from your medical insurer. Please ensure that you have this prior to your appointment at the The Vale Hospital, Cardiff Bay Clinic or Vale Clinic, Hensol.
Vale Healthcare has agreements with the following insurance providers:

It may be helpful for you to check the following with your insurer prior to visiting Vale Healthcare:
- Is there an excess you need to pay?
- Are there any limits on the amount your insurer will pay out?
- Are there any conditions/exclusions that you need to be aware of?
You will be asked to provide your medical insurers details and your pre-authorisation number when you attend your appointment at The Vale Hospital / Cardiff Bay Clinic / Vale Clinic, Hensol.
In most cases, costs are agreed in advance and payment of any consultation and treatment will be made directly through your medical insurer.
In some instances, there are sundry items which your policy does not cover (e.g.specialist equipment / drugs which are not included in the general treatment). You will be asked for payment of these before you leave.
Please be aware, if you do not provide medical insurance details, or your policy doesn't cover the full amount of your treatment, we will ask you to pay in full before you leave the clinic.
